Overview
Harris Associates was selected to execute a full-scale tenant improvement of an existing shell space, transforming it into Nomikai, a high-end sushi bar, restaurant, and speakeasy lounge located at The Venetian in Las Vegas.
Design highlights include a Sush Machida custom-painted mural, a dramatic 6-foot samurai statue housed in a golden display case at the entrance of the restaurant, intimate seating for 50 guests, a speakeasy cocktail bar, and a private dining room. The buildout included high level custom millwork, oxidized white oak and walnut finishes, specialty tile, rolled steel accents, and specialty metal fabrications.
Situated in a constrained footprint between an active restaurant and a cash cage, the project posed significant logistical and structural challenges. The site featured both slab-on-grade and slab-on-metal-deck construction, requiring detailed coordination across multiple trades. Phased construction was essential to ensure uninterrupted operations in adjacent spaces, with crews working day and night shifts, seven days a week.
Extensive underground and underslab utility work was completed alongside complex structural tie-ins to existing systems—all performed without disruption to surrounding business functions. Major structural modifications included the removal and replacement of key steel support posts to enable a reconfigured layout.
Location: The Venetian, Las Vegas, Nevada.
